Month 10

Well, obviously I'm not the best blogger out there!! Or the best Twitterer while we're at it, I lasted about 2 posts there, much to my good friend D's dismay... But I do have LOTS to talk about! I'll try to stay on track the best I can. To start I'll talk about the best thing that's ever happened to me - my little Grady Man. Let's see, the month has been HUGE. We now officially have a crawler, and man does he look freaking adorable crawling across the room! He now loves to crawl across the kitchen to get to his beloved dogfood bowls!! Those are quite an attraction! His adorable personality is just in full bloom right now, as is his blossoming sense of humor. He finds humor in all the little things, which I absolutely love. I'll never forget about a month ago, I was feeding him in his highchair and he let out a huge sneeze. A little bit of food went flying, and G thought it was HILARIOUS! He was cracking up, so of course so was I. He also finds the dogs quite humorous, especiallly when they're all crazy and chasing each other around. He laughs at them, and wants so badly to join them! He's even started to growl at the dogs. Grady's just as smiley as ever, it doesn't take much to make this guy happy. Like food! We're onto the world of solids, and since it's become more challenging to feed this little man! He wants to feed himself and every feeding ends in a battle of wills. And usually ends with him and two spoons in his hands. He's small but mighty I tell ya. Those FOUR teeth in there get a death trap on the spoon, and from there I'm toast! We've also had our first ear infection this past week :( and a nasty nasty diaper rash to go along with the antibiotics. That's been really fun, but fortunately improving with the help of Brat diet, lots of Desitin, and some nakey time. I also tried the good ole home remedy of a baking soda bath, oh, and some overpriced probiotic. But when you're baby's butt is fiery red, you'll pay any price to get it better! I have other exciting news, but am gonna save that for a new post!!

Great Weekend!

We had a great weekend, my monkey and I. We travelled up to KY to see family and friends and had a wonderful time. My sister has not seen G yet (and he's almost 9 mos. already!) so it was awesome for her to finally meet him and cuddle with him in person. She of course was instantly in love! And I have not seen her children in a year so it was a lot of fun to see them again. My how they are growing quickly! And it was fun to see Nana and Papa and spend some QT with them. The sad part of the trip was seeing our old house. My mom moved into a new house and is trying to sell the other one. I've lived in that house since I was born!! Well I guess from when i was born to when i graduated HS. So it was upsetting to realize I may never step foot in that house again, where I have SO many memories!!!
It's always so nice to go "home", and so very depressing to leave! I cry on and off for 2 days before I leave! And I've now realized that yes, it is even harder to leave now that I have monkey in tow. My family and BFF love him so much and want to be a part of our lives, more than just once a year. It's very difficult because as much as I would like to move back there, my H wants even more not to. It's a definite struggle and I aim to keep him happy, even though I often feel like he doesn't take any of my feelings into consideration. I just have to repeat to myself "maybe one day..". And unfortunately our return wasn't a joyous reunion. Instead, H had to act like an ass, which made me feel even more homesick. I simply asked him to park and come inside to help me with my bag and monkey as I had a ton of shit to carry and only 2 hands. A pretty simple request IMO. And one he should have been willing to help out with. Instead I got attitude about him having to find a parking spot, pay for it, and come inside. Sheesh. But don't you worry, I let him know I was unhappy with his jerkiness, and we kissed and made up. Sorta.

Saving for Later.

I'm saving this site for later, when we're really onto the world of solids! This is from KIWI magazine, one of my favorite magazines. They sent out this email today, and I would so love to try these sometime: www.gopicnic.com

Scooter II

Well folks, we have a near crawler!!! G's been scootin all over the place today and a few times has gotten up on all fours!! Yikes - I'm not sure I'm ready for that! It's a big milestone, seeing and thinking about my baby getting around by himself. And next up is walking which I'm definitely not ready for!! That means BABYPROOFING! And that means that life is about to get all that much more exciting. I'm loving every second of the stage, as we near 9 months. His adorable and sweet personality comes through more every day. He is the happiest baby, and the easiest to elicit a smile. Ahhh, so much more fun to look forward to - like CRAWLING!!

Strike One

So far, babyfood making has been a real hit and something I really enjoy doing. Of course, there are several types of foods we buy premade. I've been successful up to this point with bananas, sweet potatoes (G's 2 faves), peaches, apples, and peas. Tonight we ventured to the world of avocados, one of my favorite foods! Well, not so much for G. This was our first strike in the world of solids. It was quite comical watching the expressions on his face while eating the avocado, which I made by simply mashing with a fork into a puree. Needless to say he was not a big fan, BUT he made me proud by continuing to eat almost the entire bowl. About 3/4 the way through half an avocado, he had enough and let me know by refusing to have another bite. I had read on www.wholesomebabyfood.com that bananas and avocados are a good combo, so I took a piece of banana, mashed that up with a fork and added it to the rest of avocado. Now that was a HIT!! And he would have gladly eaten more, but we had already used the rest of the avocado to make some homemade guacamole....yum....

Just Like Old Times

I woke up this morning and remembered one very important thing - I'm not in my 20's anymore. OK, I seriously think I only had 4 glasses of wine last night (oops, I guess that is a whole bottle isn't it?!?!), which a few years ago would have been no big thang. But this morning - uggghhh. It took me up until now, 11:30 AM to shake the wine induced headache and nausea. Thanks be to toast and Ibuprofen. And for a fabulous baby who is onto his second nap of the day. Halelujah!! But seriously, when did i get old and feel hungover after a few glasses of wine? Oh that's right, I haven't really drank in well over a year. I like A glass of wine at night, but that's about it. And now I remember why. Because I'm not 20 anymore! I think I'll stick with my 1-2 glasses from now on!

We had a great time at Bunko last night, which i spent all afternoon preparing the house and all the food. But overall I think the food was a hit. We all got to talking, eating, and drinking and before we knew it it was 10 PM so we never even played bunko! It was still fun nonetheless. The bunko group is a great group of gals, I'm so glad to have met them all. Some of my mom's dearest friends are from her years of playing bunko, I hope I'm as fortunate as her to hold onto some of these friendships. Friendship can be an odd thing as I've come to discover. I have friends from all walks of my life - childhood, college and adult. I've maintained some of them, but not as many as I'd like. And some I've come to find out are not true friendships afterall. But I do feel blessed to have the great people that I have in my life right not. On that note, I'm going to make it my daily goal to connect with at least one of those great friends today. Especially now that I've recovered from my hangover :)
